Introducing Ashley from The Nashvillian.
What made you decide to start blogging?
I’ve actually been “blogging” since high school when Xanga
and Live Journal were, like, a HUGE deal. Back then, I used to spill my
feelings about my personal life (y’know…petty high school stuff). It was mostly
a diary filled with high school drama….that other people read. How embarrassing! Recently,
I’ve developed a hobby for photography. In an attempt to learn how to use my
DSLR, I thought I’d begin a photography blog to document my learning
experience. I quickly realized I didn’t want to be
confined to only talking about my camera (that’s no fun!). I wanted to use
my camera to take pictures of things I LOVE and write about THOSE. And that’s
how The Nashvillian was born. Because there’s not much I love more than Nashville
and everything in it. This is where
the two extremes of my blogging past merge into one. It’s a little bit of a
diary (although, I won’t be spilling my feelings, just my adventures) and an
excuse to practice photography. Win – win, right?!

How is life in Nashville?
Um, life in Nashville is AMAZING! I hope you weren’t expecting a different answer. If so, I’m sorry to disappoint (not really, hehe). No, but really, I’ve been living here for about 9 years now and have seen this city go through so many changes. It’s really booming right now! People are moving here from all over, and despite popular belief, we are NOT just about country music. There is a very diverse music scene – country, rock, pop, indie, etc. It’s all here! Of course, my favorite thing about living here right now is our EXPLODING food scene! And I document it all on my blog, along with other things like fashion, entertainment, recipes, etc.
Your job sounds pretty awesome, tell us a little about more about it.
I work in the music business at an artist management company. An artist manager is the person who oversees everything related to an artist’s career. So, I work as an assistant to a manager, which means I get to work directly with a couple artists. My boss typically handles the big things that the artist needs, and I help them with more of their day-to-day stuff. I schedule their interviews, arrange their travel, manage their calendars, and assist with anything they might need on a regular basis. Of course, the job comes with some pretty cool perks like free concert tickets and occasional backstage access. But I would be lying if I didn’t say my absolute FAVORITE part of my job is our dress code…or lack, thereof. Someone once told me that people in the music business dress like high schoolers….yep, NO business suits for this girl! Jeans every day? Yes, please! 🙂
Have you always known you’ve wanted to work in the music industry?
I was that girl in middle school and high school who was way more obsessed with music than the average teenager…so, yes? 😉
What is a favorite post you’ve recently written?
I loved writing my Blogging Highlights of 2014 – it was so much fun to look back at all my posts of the past year!
