Limited Too Tuesdays- Regarding Valentines Day

Well friends, it’s time for another edition of Limited Too Tuesdays, a post in which I look back through my old diaries to see what middle school me was up to.

Appropriately enough, today’s selected entries are all about Valentines Day. I, like most bitter young girls who were never lucky enough to have a boyfriend, had a roller coaster relationship with this holiday. I loved it in elementary school school, hated it in middle school, ignored it in high school, and drank too much on it in college.

I almost stumped you with those mysterious “cookie grams” didn’t I? Glad I could clear that up for you. I forgot extra money on all of the important days in elementary i.e. bake sales, book fairs, penny wars, and cookie gram days. Those were the critical four and like clockwork I forgot my quarters every damn year and it killed me.

I should just feel lucky my parents were kind enough to give me something on Valentines Day. Enough with the “boo whos,” loser. And I’m still confused by the frilly hearts doodled on top of the page, I was never a heart doodling kind of girl. I just wasn’t ready to see that is all (mentally ready.)

And many of you have noted my continual use of the word “pry.” It’s true, that was my favorite word back in the day. It’s short white trash for “probably.” I actually used it up until college but then one of my professors circled it on a paper and wrote “I have no idea what this means” beside it. I knew it was pry time to retire pry at that moment, at least pry for a few years or so.

Happy Valentines Day week, Bon and I are going to keep spreading the love and on Thursday we’re hosting a link-up called “Why We Work.” Join the fun and tell us why you and your significant other work. Or you and your bestfriend, or you and your mom, really about whomever or whatever  is special to you! Because I’ve already written about Chris, this time around I’m probably writing about either Harlow or Cool Ranch Doritos. It’s still up in the air.

I hated those broads that would carry their flowers around all day when they could've easily put them in their locker! Total show offs! Also, individual sports would give me the worst anxiety. I too wish I could play basketball forever!

Great job on that 100 on the spelling test, girl. I always got the easiest word wrong by accident, and that was the bane of my existence.

I love that you have all your diaries, if I only I knew what I ever did with mine. I think I hid them in a closet somewhere, and just never recovered them?

Lol thank you for addressing your over usage of the word 'pry'! Did you say it out loud too? It is seriously funny trying to picture you saying that as a little girl! Adorbs

Great link up!! When I first saw the button for it and hadn't read your post yet, I thought it was going to be "why we work" as in, what we love about our jobs (easy: I work to make money, haha)…and I couldn't think of much to say, but this is much better 😉 It'd be cute to read about why you and Harlow work!! 🙂
I have a bunch of my old diaries too, but I think they are 100 times more humiliating than yours, so not sure if I will ever share them. Funny to look back on though!

Pry. Hmm… We used to do "prolly". Apparently "probably" is a real pain in the ass for young people. I wish I'd known about "pry", it would've saved me a few more letters.

I was reading through journals from my freshman year of high school and oh boy was I cringing! It's funny how silly we sound back when we didn't know any better. And it's okay, jr high version of Tay, all my Valentines were from my parents too.

And I will have to think of something clever for that link up, it seems fun!

hahah these are always the best posts! so classic!

Pry is better than "prolly", which the autocorrect on my computer thinks it so stupid it took me four times to type. I still know people who use it. I can't tell if they just don't know how to spell "probably" or if they think it's cute.

you should pry get away from my cool ranch doritos… just sayin'….

  18. February 13, 2014 / 11:06 am

This makes me wish that I hadn't thrown out any of the journals that I tried to keep over the years! I am glad that you are secure enough to share your hilarious thoughts!
