It’s time for another edition of Limited Too Tuesdays, a post in which I look back through my old diaries to see what middle school me was up to.
And…. I’m really excited because I’ve asked one my very favorite bloggers, Helene, to join me and share one of her middle school diary entries as well! So today we’re going to view the contrasting opinions from little Tay and little Helene regarding our thoughts on “fooling around.”
January 26, 2000.
I think I need to work the word “nasty” back into my vocab in 2014. That’s just one of those words that really packs a punch, don’t you think?
The funny thing is I actually remember this note. And I know for a fact it didn’t get any nastier than the “fooling around” part, and that was the actual phrase “Tom” used. What kind of middle schooler (not from the 1950s) says fooling around, anyway? So you kids wanna fool around, do ya? Just for the record that was intended to be read in that weird fast tone old movie stars used to speak in…
Well anyway, thank God Sarah reassured me she wouldn’t “do that kind of stuff” or I would have had to drop her as a friend right then and there. And Sarah is one of those friends I met the day I was born and still continue to be friends with to this day- but only because she “didn’t do that kind of stuff.” Are you guys starting to catch on to what a crazy little Judge Judy I used to be? Don’t get me started on the day I found out my sister drank alcohol- in high school!!! I almost called the police myself.
But let’s take a look at middle school Helene, shall we? Take it away Helene In Between…
Looking at old diary entries is hilarious and awesome and really, speaks to your character today. JK. I’m nothing like my dairy was back then. At least, I hope not. In 8th grade you could say I was a bit of a slut. No one would say that because all I ever did was make out. But reading this diary entry you could see that I liked to make out a lot. In 8th grade I liked boys. Like, really liked boys. I mean, clearly I was cool, I was on the dance team:
But let me point out, this was a professionally done photo. This is what I typically looked like when going out on the town, err, the mall in which my mom dropped me off.
I wore this outfit to a dance. I thought this mess looked good. Pink everything. So with this person in mind, we can get into my diary entry. Names have been changed since I don’t want them to feel embarrassed. Although I highly doubt he’s reading this blog.
Spin the bottle with a plastic shovel…Who knew Helene was the middle school MacGyver of kissing games?!
I need to go look back through my old journals!
Would we have been enemies?! I promise I really wasn't THAT bad
What I wouldn't give to see middle school Taylor reading middle school Helene's diary.
I absolutely adore these posts. I wish I kept a diary while growing up. The diaries that I did have, only my friends wrote in. Those entries are pretty strange. ahaha
Spin the shovel is too funny!
I love Limited Too Tuesdays! Spin the shovel – what a novel idea! Being on the phone for hours and inviting boys over at 2am sounds just like 8th grade me! Tay, good thing you were such a goody goody…can you imagine if you were that kind of girl? Nasty.

Haha Taylor, the slut-shamer! I need to find my old diaries because I know there's got to be some gold in there!
This is hysterical. I wish I knew where my old diaries were!
"Spin the shovel", sounds more dangerous and exciting than "spin the bottle"- I call for a name change!

These make me laugh so hard – I'm kinda curious (and scared) what my diary says!!
These are hilarious. I wish so badly I had kept up a good journal. Mine are all kind of dishonest…not enough juicy "bad girl" bits, too much "oh I'm so goth and melancholy". Which is funny in its own way, of course, but not awesome like these.
Oh my gosh. This is beyond hilarious. I think I was more like Taylor. I was a total goodie-goodie. I didn't get my first "real kiss" until my sophomore year. My, how I've changed!! Hahaha!
Helene, my parents would have KILLED me if I invited anyone over to the house at 2am, let alone BOYS. You were brave.

haha I think I was in the middle of you two. I wasn't the girl doing the kissing but I loved getting details.
haha. Spin the shovel. Man, Helene was a wild child! Is it terribly sad that I didn't even have my first kiss until I was 17 years old?
I played spin the bottle in college because I wanted to make out with two of my friends . . . that might be more pathetic than playing it in middle school.
Limited Too used to be my jam! Ohh the good old days.

Oh I bet you ladies would have got along – at least by high school. These are hilarious.
Oh my goodness. These are hilarious!
At least you spelled 'Wednesday' right in middle school. I didn't learn 'Wed' until at least 10th grade.
This is seriously so cute. I have been writing in a journal daily.. since 1996. So I know that I have some pretty funny entries to share. I thought this was a link up! But it looks like it's a cute idea you came up with. I maaaay have to borrow this idea for a future post because it's just too tempting! I have a trunk filled with embarrassing entries and probably even more embarrassing photos to share…
baahahah. I am dying.
I was the risque 8th grader as well.
Making out was the norm.
We were SO cool back in the day.
Love these Tuesday posts! And for the record, I heard Jimmy Stewart's voice in my head for the "fool" around part. 😉
Omg I love this so much. I'm so glad I didn't keep a diary during those days I can only imagine the nonsense that I would have wrote about. Thanks for the laugh!

Woah I love that you kept a friend for "not doing that kind of stuff" we would have been friends in j. high and judged all the other kids who "fooled around"
My cousin made out with a guy at the park one time in sixth grade; I called her a slut, started crying and rode my bike home without her (we had pegged up there obviously). She won't let me live it down to this day! Good times…
I love this! I was not judgy as Taylor seeing as my friends were the ones considered sluts, but I was definitely not a Helene either.
hahaha these are great! Makes me wish I had written more in a diary, instead of using that stupid purple pocket diary that was probably given to goodwill a long time ago!
